Welcome to the website for UAW Local 5287. We have proudly held our UAW Charter since 2004 despite a few road bumps along the way. We are the Collective Bargaining Unit for hourly non-office employees at all Thomas Built Buses (TBB) plants in Highpoint, NC. Our members proudly make buses that are delivered all across North and South America, and Canada.

Our Local Membership represents a diverse group of outstanding employees, and we are extremely proud to be a part of UAW Region 8 which is led by Regional Director Gary Casteel.

The UAW and Thomas Built Buses has a long standing history together all the way back to when TBB was originally named Perly A. Thomas Car Works Inc. Back in June of 1959 the UAW and Thomas Car Works signed their first Agreement. Below is a slideshow of that original contract.
